EigenLayer Node Operator

What is EigenLayer ?

EigenLayer, a protocol developed on the Ethereum blockchain, introduces restaking as a novel element in cryptoeconomic security. This feature allows for the rehypothecation of $ETH within the consensus layer. Participants who stake $ETH have the option to engage with EigenLayer smart contracts, enabling them to restake their $ETH and enhance cryptoeconomic security for further applications across the network. Consequently, EigenLayer holds promise in its capacity to consolidate and broaden cryptoeconomic security via restaking, while also validating emerging applications developed atop the Ethereum platform.

Who are the Operators ?

Operators, who can be either individuals or organizations, play an active role in the EigenLayer protocol. By registering within EigenLayer, they enable ETH stakers to delegate their staked assets, whether in the form of native ETH or LSTs. The Node Operators then opt-in to provide a range of services to AVSs, enhancing the overall security and functionality of their networks.

Becoming an Operator in the EigenLayer ecosystem does not necessitate a specific amount of restaked tokens. Essentially, any Ethereum address can serve as an Operator. Additionally, it's possible for an address to function both as a Restaker, engaging in either liquid or native restaking, and as an Operator simultaneously. However, it is important to note that this dual role is not mandatory. An Operator can participate in the EigenLayer network without having any restaked tokens.

Nodeshark EigenLayer Operators Nodes

Deploying an EigenLayer Operator generates a wallet, you will receive the private key to it in your Nodeshark dashboard. At Nodeshark, we setup your Operator Node and transfer some gETH to it to cover for gas fee during the setup process. If you bought an Operator node and would like to restake some gETH on it, follow the next steps.

Delegating some gETH to your Operator node

Note that you can use any wallet, just make sure to be connected to the Goerli Testnet network.

  1. Get some gETH (goerliETH)
Either visit Testnet Bridge (you will need some ETH) or the Link text Here (free) to gather some gETH.
  2. Swap your gETH for stETH on Tapio exchange
  3. Restake your stETH on Eigenlayer Goerli
  4. Go to your Operator page (available in your Nodeshark dashboard or https://goerli.eigenlayer.xyz/operator/Your_Operator_Address)
  5. Click the Delegate button and add your stETH
